Happy New Year from Squire & Squire Photography

Shortly I will be off to Warwick Castle to photograph my last Wedding of 2016 and my second December wedding this year.  First though I thought I'd share a Happy New Year message.

2016 has been an enjoyable year where we've made many new friends / clients in all areas of the business.  February 2017 will be our fifth year anniversary at our studio at 1 Market Place, Warwick and my eighth year as a full time photographer.

I feel very privileged to be in the position that I am in and look forward to and wish everyone a very Happy New Year!

Family Portrait Photographer Warwickshire

2A4A5161bw

This weekend just gone I was asked to take some photographs for a 12th birthday party, doing photography for birthdays parties is not something I have done much of before but then again it is very similar to usual location family portraits and wedding photography.  The hosts wanted some professional photographs capturing the action of the party whilst some traditional portraits as well.

Sunday also happened to be the best weather we have had in quite some time so most of the party was outside revolving around a trampoline and a water fight. It great fun to watch and reminded me of my own days of care free youth.

Dog Photography Warwickshire

2A4A4354

Being a dog owner myself I know the different looks a dog gives as part of their personality. Recently we attended the DOGLOTT show in Leamington Spa old town as a pet photography stand, the purpose of the show was to showcase local dog charities and organisations. The LOTT part of the title of the show refers to the organisers Leamington Old Town Team. A team of volunteers tasked with bringing new business to Leamingtons Old Town.

I wanted to create dog portraits that were more than simply a picture of a dog on a background, so I decide to focus my attention on capturing their expression around their eyes.

Over the course of the day I photographed a number of dogs and these are a few of my favourite images.

Pet Portraits Warwickshire

On 16th November I was honoured to create an owner and pet portrait of Molly and her owner Lizzie in my studio. The sitting was a present paid for by her sister where I was on instructions to create black and white images, which is great because black and white portraits are my favourite style.

I seem to have a knack for making animals feel at home in my company and Molly was no different, in fact Lizzie and her sister were surprised how much Molly relaxed in the strange surroundings of my studio.

New Studio Backgrounds!

Family photo shoots taken against a bright white background, have been very popular for the last fifteen years. The style has become synonymous with high street studios and I expect it has bit a lot more life in it yet.

But here at Squire & Squire we want to break free from the formula’s of old and embrace a new future of colour!  Therefore we have invested in a range of coloured backgrounds and scenes suitable for a wealth of subjects. Dog Portraits Warwickshire

I have done a fair amount of pet portraits over the years, dogs are often treated as another member of the family so when it comes to family portraits its always a must to include the family pet.  My mother recently took on Dora a rescue dog from the Dogs Trust in Kenilworth, Dora is my niece Isabella's new best friend, so I decided to take some photographs of Dora for Isabella's birthday.

They do say never work with children or animals but with a bit of patience its possible to capture the different expressions that animals have, above I have used different coloured backgrounds to make Dora stand out and add a bit of fun to the image. I think the pink one works best but I decided to make a small montage and then have it printed on canvas for Isabella's wall.
