Wedding Photography at Henley Room Registry Office Stratford

wedding-photos-henley-rooms19

On the 4th August,  I did the Wedding Photography Warwickshire at the Henley Room Registry Office for Lisa and Marcus. I'd been booked for my six-hour package to cover the morning bridal preparations through the first dance in the evening.

I have been to the Henley Rooms a number of times now, it is definitely an improvement on the old Windsor House registry office on the inside but the downside is that it has no outside space, but on this occasion, it did not matter because it was a gloriously sunny August day so we were able to walk down to the park by the river for photos.

After meeting Lisa at her home I did some casual photos of the bridal prep before heading off to Stratford to get to the Henley Rooms to aim to get there before they did, as it turned out everybody struggled to get to the ceremony on time because of the extreme traffic queues into the town.

But once there I was able to guide guests in and generally help out as there was a lot of confusion as most of the key people were missing when the ceremony was due to start. I often like to help as much as I can I am a photographer but my job is also to help the day run smooth.  Once everybody had arrived the ceremony was very touching, there were some tears of joy and lots of laughter. Afterwards, Marcus and Lisa left the Henley Room in there hired 1950's Cadillac whilst I guided the guests down to the small park located close to Holy Trinity Church. I had chosen this park as I know the Bancroft is rammed in the summertime, this was a lot quieter and there was space to park the car.

We did some formal group photos and some couple photos by the river and then everybody headed off for the reception meal and I met up with them later the Rugby Club in Alcester, where they had booked the whole club and a burger van / horsebox.

Wedding Photography Burton Dassett Warwickshire

weddingphotography18

On the 2nd August, I did the wedding photography for Daniel and Sami at the Pageant House in Warwick and then we headed off to Burton Dassett for photos and then Burton Dassett Village Hall.   The wedding had a Beauty and the Beast Disney theme which was very original, Sami wore a classic wedding dress and Daniel wore a suit from Beauty and the Beast.

Burton Dassett is an original location for photographs, its a popular place for kite flying and walking but a lot of people commented that they'd never seen a wedding party up there which shows the genius of Daniel and Sami for picking not only an original theme for there wedding but an original location as well.   The ceremony was at the Pageant House in Warwick where we did some group photos and I captured candid shots but after this, I ran to my car to try so that I could beat everybody to the hills so that I could get some shots as they arrived in their Beauford Wedding car.

I took some photos as they arrived from the hill overlooking the road, after this I met up with them at the car did some couple shots on the road that leads to the Beacon and then we did the group photos, by this time through the sun really very hot so I was mindful to get these done so that everybody could get to the wedding venue and out of the sun.

For the wedding venue, they had hired Burton Dassett village hall and a bouncy castle for the kids set up outside, inside they had decorated the room into a Disney theme including a cake inspired by the Disney film Up.  The afternoon was very relaxed with kids and adults playing on the bouncy castle and dancing inside and then we finished the day with a few photos taken on top of the hills at sunset.  All in all, it was a great day that I really enjoyed photographing it was very colourful. Daniel and Sami have asked me not to publish any photos that include their children, therefore, a lot of photos are missing but the few below should give you an idea of the day.

Wedding Photography Pageant House Warwick | Megan & Tim

Wedding_Photography_Pageant_House_Warwick-11-of-45

At the end of July, I photographed the wedding of Megan & Tim who got married at the Pageant House registry office in Warwick. I have provided the wedding photography for many weddings at Warwick Registry Office but even though I have been then many times, each wedding is always different and the feel of the images different each time.

When I first met Megan & Tim they shared the same laid-back attitude that I have myself agreeing that it is important to capture such a day as getting married but they didn't want all the pomp and expense of hiring a grand wedding venue, which I can completely understand but they did have all the trimmings such as a wedding car, formal attire and a venue for afterwards that was their local village hall.

It was a small wedding of their nearest and dearest which is perfect for the Pageant House in Warwick, after the simple ceremony we headed into the gardens for some informal photos and some group pictures.

After this Megan and Tim headed off in their Austin 18 Windsor wedding car,  they said that they wanted some photos with the car somewhere between Warwick and the reception venue, the only place I could think of was a stretch of road nearby where there are no hedges either side of the road. I thought this would make a nice location with good light. With the location given to the driver of the wedding car, I raced off to get my car and then to beat them to it which I did by a good five minutes even with them having a 20-minute head start on me.

The weather on the day was sunny but very windy, we got some lovely pictures at this spot but Tim is clearly struggling to keep his eyes open in the intense wind. After the photos had been done within five minutes of leaving it rained the first rain of July that went on for most of the rest of the day, but by this point, it was a short hop from the village hall car park to indoors so the rain did not matter.  I finished the day by taking some casual photos of the speeches and then the cutting of the cake.  It was an enjoyable day and lovely to see this couple tie the knot!

Mallory Court Wedding Photography | Sally and Steve

Mallory Court Wedding Photography | Sally and Steve

Congratulations Sally & Steve who got married at the Mallory Court Hotel in June. I was booked to capture the wedding photography all day from the getting ready preparations through to the first dance in the evening. I have provided wedding photography at the Mallory Court a number of times, it really is a lovely venue.  For Sally and Steves wedding though it was a day filled with laughter, love and probably the most detailed father of the bride speech that has ever been told.

Sally and Steve are a lovely couple we did engagement portraits in October with Sally's horse Honey. The weather could not have been worse it was windy and rainy but we still got some good shots!  Fast forward to their wedding day and the weather was perfect - nice and sunny with some cloud diffusion.

For me, the day started splitting my time between the bridal prep and the arrival of the guests,  at the Mallory Court it is easy to do as the venue isn't too big. The morning ran like clockwork Sally and her father are keen organisers.  The ceremony was held in the drawing room which was very calm although the most emotional person was the father of the bride.

After the ceremony, everyone spilled out into the gardens at the back of the venue for a few hours whilst we did the formal photos and everybody had some time to relax with canapes. The drawing room was transformed for the wedding breakfast and then came the speeches, where the father of the bride had recorded Sally's life story including a hilarious begging letter that he'd kept from her childhood.

At this point, there was a break and then everybody returned to for the evening festivities, during this break I also did some wedding portraits of Sally and Steve around the venue.  It was a fun day and it was good to see these two tie knot after getting to know them so well over the last year.

If you are looking for a Mallory Court Wedding Photographer please do not hesitate to contact us.

Here is a small sample of the 800 plus finished images provided.

Wedding Photographer Warwickshire Amanda & James Wedding

Wedding_photographer_warwickshire-69-of-85

Bidford-upon-Avon Wedding |  Amanda & James

On the 9th June, I was the wedding photographer for the wedding of Amanda and James who got married at St Lawrence Church in Bidford with their reception held at a village hall in Upper Bentley close to where they live in Warwickshire.     I have known James for a few years so it was an honour to be asked to do the wedding photography for his wedding I had not met Amanda before until see arrived probably the biggest wedding dress I have ever seen!

Like all the weddings I cover it was a great day, this was my first time covering a wedding at  St Lawrence Church and the vicar was very helpful I much prefer it went the vicar or the registrar's share their experience of the best places to stand etc from previous weddings. Although because of the lighting I was limited to stand behind the bright and groom but it all worked out well!

After the service, we did a few documentary photos and then headed off to the reception venue a village hall in Upper Bentley,  where Amanda and James had done all the decorations themselves. Once at the venue, we did the groups photos, had afternoon tea and then some couple photos in the low early evening sun and finally onto the first dance and then into the evening.

The weather was perfect not too sunny and then in the evening, the low June sun created a nice evening backdrop for the guests of what was a laid-back wedding happy wedding day.

Relaxed Wedding Photography at Catthorpe Manor

wedding_photography_catthorpe-Manor-66-of-66

Catthorpe Manor Wedding Photography | Jenny & Mike

On Monday 28th May 2018 I provided the wedding photography for Jenny & Mike who got married at Catthorpe Manor Wedding Photography, a small but elegant wedding venue and hotel located near to Lutterworth in Leicestershire.  Captthorpe is for me is an ideal wedding venue because when it is hired it is hired exclusively it features a very nice interior and a very nice exterior for me it is a classic English country house hotel.

On the day itself, it was then the hottest day we'd had so far very warm weather indeed with bright blue skies and white fluffy clouds.  I had only been booked for the afternoon so as soon as I arrived I needed to get on, my first port of call was the ceremony room which is a light and airy room with large windows on one side, I took some photos in here and then went off to find Mike and best man where I did some informal portraits and then photographed the rings.

Next, I took a few casual photos of the guests as they were arriving and then headed towards the bridal sweat to take a few getting ready photographs. On the way, I checked the lighting for the stairs (Captthorpe has nice stairs ideal for photos with the father of the bride etc) once I had found the wedding coordinator for a brief chat she showed me towards Jenny's room.  I don't often do getting ready photos because I usually get asked to meet couples at the venue so it was a nice change to take some, I knew exactly what Jenny wanted which was good quality relaxed photos. I took a few of what was going on in the room and then posed Jenny and her daughter by the window.

I didn't want took take too long and get in their way with time moving on I went downstairs to see how what goes on, by now all the guests had sat down the ceremony room and Mike was waiting patiently at the front of the room, I took a few photos of the general scheme of the room to give an idea of what was going on and then headed back to stairs where the father of the bride and Jennys son daughter were waiting sat by a nice window area - I managed to get some really nice pictures here of Jennys children.

Before I knew it the bridal party were heading for the stairs I took some casual pictures as they moved down the stairs then I ran ahead to get in position in the ceremony room to capture the bridal parties arrival.  The lighting conditions in the room were very good as mentioned before the room has huge windows so there where no problems here. The bridal party arrived and everybody looked stunning and then the ceremony commenced.

The registrar did a good job of making a few jokes to ease the service along and I continued to take casual pictures of the emotions unfolding in front of me, there were a few moving readings and before long we were at the signing of the register. The next step after this was the doors to the garden being opened up, I nipped out in front to capture Jenny and Mike crossing the threshold into the garden.

Then for the next half an hour, I took casual photos of all the guests congratulating the happy couple and enjoying themselves. Jenny and Mike had specified that they did not want loads of formal photographs so I tried to get informal groups in photographs. We did, however, do a large photo of everybody who was in attendance for the wedding taken with the group on the steps I couldn't take the picture straight on because the sun would have made them all squint.

After sometime had passed and the hotel staff had transformed the ceremony room into the reception room I took some photos of the tables set up, the cake and the general decorations and then finally headed to the woods that butt up against the hotel for some wedding portraits - Jenny was very keen to get some photos in the woods where I found a pool of light within which to place them for some natural portraits.

After this we headed to the front of the hotel building,  by now all the guests had been seated in the hotel for the wedding breakfast so that gave me a few more minutes to do some more wedding portraits on the steps and then with a nod from the hotel staff Jenny and Mike headed into the reception and the wedding photography for me had finished for the day - last but not least I took a photo of the venue.

Here are a few of 400 images taken.

Pageant Registry Office Warwick, Wedding Photography | Rebecca & Nico

Wedding-Photography-Warwickshire014

I have covered many weddings at the Pageant House in Warwick, it's a nice little venue that is ideally located in the Historic part of Warwick with the Castle in the background and the surrounding lanes which are all perfect for natural wedding photography. I am a big fan of capturing the flow and emotion of the wedding day, formal photographs do have their place as a record of the people that attended with natural shots they really do capture the feel of the day.

Rebecca & Nico got married on the first Saturday of the May bank holiday which was very sunny, it was almost a miracle considering that the previous week it had been was freezing cold, everybody was commenting on how lucky they were.

Like a lot of the weddings I cover at Pageant House this one was quite small with only a few guests of close friends and family, Rebecca and Nico also both arrived together to set the tone for a relaxed wedding, that was a close family affair with a few readings and then we left the ceremony room into the garden which was in full bloom of tulips.

They were some sporadic confetti throwing and lots of opportunities to capture their guests congratulating and enjoying the day, whilst I took some documentary style wedding photography of the group celebrating.  We then did some formal groups as requested before the guests enjoyed some chilled Prosecco and then with the last fifteen minutes of my time we did some couple portraits in the surrounding lanes.

This was a two-hour booking which is ideal for small weddings, the following is a small sample of the 320 finished images delivered to Rebecca and Nico.

Wedding Photographer Warwickshire | James and Carly

Wedding Photographer Warwick

On Saturday 7th April I had a lovely day as the wedding photographer for the wedding of James and Carly who got married at the Pageant House in Warwick.

The day was split over many venues, for me, it started at the Warwick Arms Hotel, where Carly and her sister were staying to prepare for the wedding day ahead.

I arrived and photographed some candid images in the room and in the hotel reception area before we headed off to the Pageant House for the ceremony which is a short walk away.

I have photographed many weddings at the Pageant House it is a lovely venue for small weddings, with a nice exit into the gardens. Once we arrived at Pageant House, I met up with James who was looking very nervous but he managed to keep it together.  The ceremony was very emotional as usual with most weddings but its always nice to see a couple tie the knot and to capture the mood of the day.

After the ceremony, we headed out into the pageant gardens, where I concentrated on taking relaxed photos and then we did some family groupings for the formal photographs. I think it's important not to rush the photography and allow everybody some time to congratulate the happy couple and relax after the ceremony.

The next part of the day was afternoon tea held at Jambavan Restaurant that is just opposite the gardens. Here afternoon teas and cakes had been arranged in the upstairs area of the restaurant.

This particular weekend in Warwick was a busy one with the National Town Crier Championships also taking place in the gardens of the registry office who thankfully wasn't around when the wedding ceremony finished but had returned to the gardens just in time for the end of the afternoon tea. Naturally, this was a photo opportunity too good to miss.

After this, James, Carly and their son Charlie and I headed to the Mill Gardens for some relaxed wedding portraits. The walk to the Mill Garden is almost as attractive as the gardens themselves, I grew up in Warwick but I am still intrigued by its hidden alleys and historic architecture.

The Mill Garden was as usual stunning, the river, the ruined bridge and the Castle is just a fantastic setting and of course of the lovely plants and flowers.

After the gardens, James and Carly and I had a break from the wedding photography for a few hours and I met up with them again at the Sports Connexion near Ryton on Dunsmore. Where the plan was to spend a few hours photographing casual groups, the cutting of the cake and the first dance.

It was a great day, that I very much enjoyed. The weather forecast was heavy rain and it held off, the town criers where a bonus and it was great to do a wedding in Warwick Town.

Apologies that the images are showing in reverse order in the gallery below, unfortunately, I cannot figure out why this is happening!

Stephen and Katy Wedding Photography at the Henley Room Registry Office Stratford-upon-Avon

wedding_photography_henley_room_stratford01

On the 9th December, I provided wedding photography at the new Henley Room Registry Office in Stratford-upon-Avon.  I have done lots of weddings at the old Winton House Venue in Stratford and although Winton House was on a quieter street the interior of the new venue at Henley Room is much brighter and better decorated.

The only downside to the new venue is when the Market is on like it was when I was there, there is no room to spill out of the venue onto the street as the market stalls are in the way.

On the day itself, it was a very bright sunny but cold day, Stephen and Katy had only booked me for an hour just to cover service and for some photos afterwards, my time with them was brief but I still managed to capture 198 images for them to keep of the ceremony pictures afterwards.

It was very cold on the day so instead of heading down to the Bancroft Gardens for some photos we stayed around the venue, the Henley Rooms don’t have any gardens but there is a small patch of ground next to the Shakespeare Birthplace that we used for photos until the security guard told us to move.

It was nice little wedding and congratulations to Stephen and Katy.

Wedding Photography Engagement Shoot

2A4A0644

Last week I met up with Sally and Steve for their pre-wedding engagement shoot, they are getting married at Malory Court Hotel next spring.  When Sally and Steve booked me for their wedding photography we discussed locations for the engagement shoot Sally suggested including her horse Molly.  I have done a few bits of work over the years involving horses and I am always keen to try anything.  We set a date and a place and naturally, for October the weather was absolutely awful, very high winds and drizzle on the day.

I don't mind getting wet as long as we get the portraits and because Sally and Steve are outdoor types they weren't bothered either, when the rain really came down we headed for the barn and when it stopped we headed out into the fields.  These are my favourite images out of a set of nearly eighty images.

Wedding Photography @ Pageant House Warwick and Saxon Mill

Wedding Photography at the Pageant House and The Saxon Mill

On the 24th July, we covered the wedding photography of Naomi and Simon at the Pageant House Registry Office in Warwick and then onto the Saxon Mill Pub for the reception. I have covered lots of weddings at the Pageant House, out of all the Warwickshire Registry Offices it is one of the nicest especially because of the gardens at the back. The gardens were opened in 1908 and were the first public gardens in Warwick. The gardens were brought from the proceeds of the Warwick Pageant of 1906 and the name Pageant House is because the costumes for 1906 Pageant were made there.

The wedding day was lovely another small family wedding on a sunny day in July, after the ceremony and some family pictures in the Pageant House garden we headed to the Saxon Mill for a few more photos of the cutting of the cake and portraits of Simon and Naomi.

Haseley Church, Haseley Wedding Photography | Andrea & Roland

Rolland-and-Andrea006

On the 10th June 2017, I provided the wedding photography of Rolland & Andrea at Haseley Church near Hatton in Warwickshire. It was for me a very short assignment of only one hour just at the church.

My approach is always to give my all no matter if the coverage is all day or not.

On the day the weather was overcast but thankfully the rain held off until everybody was at the reception venue. The church was lovely though, I have always wanted to see inside this church as it is only a short way from where I grew up but for our family, all the grand occasions have always been held at the larger Hatton Church that is just up the road.

Anyway, the only light source inside the church apart from a small tungsten spotlight was candlelight this coupled with cosy interior led to a really nice intimate service with traditional hymns, then after the ceremony, there was the confetti, the family groupings and portraits for those who wanted them.

David and Hannah Wedding Photography at Alderson House, Warwick

Hannah_David253

On the 3rd of June this year I photographed the wedding of David and Hannah at Alderson House, in Warwick. This is the second time I have covered a wedding at Alderson House and it certainly makes a different wedding venue from the norm because it is the local lodge for the Warwick branch of the masons. The building itself is a lovely Georgian style house with plenty of light and interesting features.

It was close family wedding filled with emotion and love, the weather held out for some nice relaxed images of the wedding and the group pictures and the portraits afterwards. Below is a small sample of the images taken.

Mallory Court Hotel Wedding Photography | Emma & Tim

Overview-6-of-9

I have known Emma & Tim for quite a few years now, I have done two sets of family portraits for them at my studio over the five and a half years I have been based in Warwick. It was great to be asked to do their wedding photography as well. The wedding itself was very low key, just Emma and Tim, their two children and two friends, the ceremony itself was held at the registry office just opposite my studio at Shire Hall in Warwick and then for the wedding photographs at the Mallory Court Hotel.

This would be my third visit to the Mallory Court Hotel, it is a lovely hotel with art deco/arts and crafts feel to it, it also has lovely gardens, which we were all looking forward to having photos in. However, the weather had other ideas with heavy rain throughout the day. But, although Emma was disappointed with the weather, for me the rain was another photo opportunity.

It was heavy rain but I didn't mind getting wet as far as I am concerned, as long as we get the pictures I'll do whatever is required including getting soaked to the skin in my suit.

St Nicholas Church Alcester and Kings Court Hotel Alcester Wedding Photography | Emma & Owen

2A4A0307

On Saturday 6th May 2017 I was employed to do the wedding photography for Emma & Owen for a blessing at St Nicholas Church in Alcester with a reception at Kings Court Hotel in also in Alcester.

The event had all the trappings of a full-blown wedding but it was, in fact, a blessing because Emma and Owen had already tied the knot in Jamacia the week previous.

This was my first trip to St Nicholas Church in Alcester, it is a lovely church with a nice teal coloured ceiling and plasterwork. I am somewhat of a fan of visiting churches but that is another story.

The day started and ended at the Kings Court Hotel with a vintage white Rolls Royce as transport between venues, the weather was cloudy but we made the best of the weather. The bridal party was in full traditional clothing with Emma looking stunning in a traditional wedding dress. My aim with all wedding photography is to capture the day as it unfolds and to not interfere too much in the events instead concentrating on capturing the mood. This approach leads to more natural photos which is exactly the brief Emma gave me when I was booked.

Below are a few examples of the photographs out of over 300 taken.

Wedding Photography at Stonehenge & The Hawk Conservancy Trust

_035

On 22nd April 2017 I provided the wedding photography for Sarah and Brett held at Stonehenge in Wiltshire and The Hawk Conservancy Trust in Hampshire.

I had done some work previously for Sarah and when she mentioned that she would like to employ me for her wedding at Stonehenge I was over the moon. Stonehenge is right up there as a national landmark with the Houses of Parliment and Big Ben.

I booked a hotel in Amesbury as the wedding day started at 6.00 am when all the guests met in the car park of Stonehenge to take the shuttle bus to the Stones. My working day started here, it was half light with a glimmer of orange on the horizon. I wanted to capture in the build-up of the guest arriving at the bus stop plus the orange horizon.

The dress code for the day was casual except Sarah and Brett were wearing capes and the high priests had traditional clothing on. Once at Stonehenge proper security advised us that we had exactly one hour for inside the stones and strictly no touching stones. Immediately ran ahead to capture landscape pictures of the stones before the procession arrived.

Pretty much as soon as the procession had arrived in the circle the service started, where I spent my time moving in and out of the stones capturing the emotions of the ceremony it was very unusual to be able to move 360 degrees around the subject. Usually, registers or vicars don't like to photographers to move too much in services, this was not the case here although I had two security guards watching my every move.

The ceremony lasted 45 minutes which left not much time to get some portraits of the Sarah and Brett and also allow them some time to take the scene in. I took some 500 images in the hour available I don't think I have ever taken so many images in such a short amount of time but I have never been to a wedding at Stonehenge before and didn't want to miss a single detail.

Then before I knew it the hour was over with a security guard ushering us back to the shuttle bus then straight back to the visitor centre.

After a small break and a half hour drive up the road, the next part of the wedding was at the Hawk Conservancy Trust. By now the sun was really shining, the morning at Stonehenge was quite dark and overcast but not now the sun shone.

Next up was a blessing in a wildflower meadow covered in cowslips, literally thousands are far as the eye could see. The blessing was very calm and tranquil then after the blessing, there was some confetti which made some beautiful pictures.

The rest of the day was spent watching the birds of prey shows interweaved with a three-course meal. It was a spectacular wedding day the handfasting ceremony in the morning was amazing and then wildflower meadow and the birds of prey it was fantastic. I rounded the day off with some portraits of Sarah and Brett in the wildflower meadow and then drive back to Warwick through the Cotswolds as the sunset - what a day!

day!

Spring Wedding in Warwick at Hill Close Gardens

Spring Wedding in Warwick at Hill Close Gardens

On the 25th March 2017, I provided the wedding photographer Warwickshire for Rachel and Paul at Pageant House in Warwick. Followed by the reception and drinks at Hill Close Gardens.

After a long winter, the weather that weekend was the first proper blast of the sunshine we had seen in a long time. Perfect blue sky mixed with spring flowers, blossom and bloom lead to a special wedding.  We did their engagement photos on a cold, grey January day so it made the perfect change to have a sunny wedding. It was a great day enjoyed by all.

Small Wedding @ Mallory Court Hotel, Warwickshire

2A4A9952

Back on the 19th December 2016, I provided wedding photography for a small family wedding at Mallory Court Hotel near to Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.  It was only a small gathering so I agreed on an hourly rate with an additional fee for a print box and USB stick.

The Mallory Court is a lovely venue although I have never visited it in the summer always in the winter. Getting married were William and Leslie who had been partners for 25 years already, joining them were their sons and their girlfriends.

The weather typical cold grey December day but with some added flash I was able to lighten the scene and create some flattering images for the family to keep as a reminder of their special day.

Wedding Photography at The Pageant House Warwick and The Glebe Hotel Barford

weddingphotography-4-of-7

On 22nd October 2017 I photographed the wedding of Tom and Beccy first at the Pageant House in Warwick and then onto The Glebe Hotel in Barford. Tom and Beccy are actually previous customers for whom I did studio family portraits for a few years ago. It was great to see them again and how their children had grown.

The Pageant House it is the better of the two registry offices in Warwick with a nice interior and garden area.  This visit though was on a gorgeous autumn day when the trees where full turn and the light was fantastic.

After doing some pictures in the service and in the gardens we headed to The Glebe Hotel in Barford. I have actually been to the Globe before but have driven past many times and wonder what it is like. It is a small hotel ideal for small weddings and I can see why Tom & Beccy booked it.

In the garden, it has a large wall creeping plant that was in its full autumnal colour change which made a lovely backdrop for the couple photographs.

Here a small selection of the one hundred and seventy three images given to Tom and Beccy for our two hour wedding photography package.
