Some celebrations deserve a setting to match the occasion, and a joint 150th birthday celebration at Warwick Castle certainly delivered.
Mark, Lee and Aidan celebrated their 50th birthdays with a black-tie event in the castle’s magnificent Great Hall. To mark the occasion, a flag displaying “150th” flew from one of the castle towers, making it clear that this was no ordinary birthday party.
With guests dressed for the occasion, jesters and performers from Warwick Castle, live music and plenty happening throughout the evening, it was a fantastic event to photograph and film.
A black-tie celebration in the Great Hall
The Great Hall provided an impressive backdrop for the evening, with its historic surroundings adding to the sense of occasion. The entertainment included performers from Warwick Castle, while guests enjoyed an evening celebrating with family and friends.
We provided photography and videography throughout the event, capturing a mixture of natural, candid moments and posed photographs of Mark, Lee and Aidan with their guests.
I worked alongside my colleague Sophie, who focused on the video coverage, while I concentrated on the photography and drone footage. Working together meant we could capture the celebration from different perspectives without missing the important moments.
Live music from KALEO's Jökull Júlíusson
One of the highlights of the evening was an acoustic set by Jökull Júlíusson, frontman of the Icelandic rock band KALEO. It was a special addition to the celebrations, alongside the speeches and entertainment throughout the evening.
Capturing the performance on video meant that this part of the occasion could be enjoyed again long after the celebrations had ended.
Three films to remember the occasion
Alongside the photographs, we produced three films to preserve different aspects of the celebration.
The highlights film brings together moments from throughout the evening, capturing the atmosphere and key events. A second film features video messages recorded by guests, preserving their personal words and memories. The third brings together the music performance and speeches, allowing these important moments to be revisited.
Together with the photographs and drone footage, the films provide a lasting record of the celebration, from the atmosphere of the Great Hall to the people and performances that made the evening special.

It was clearly a fantastic event, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended. From the 150th flag flying above the castle to the live music, performers and personal messages, there was plenty to make this a memorable occasion.
