Black Country Living Museum Wedding Photographer | Styled Shoot
Last July, I was delighted to be invited by Black Country Living Museum in Dudley to photograph a wedding styled shoot at the museum, creating images for the venue's wedding marketing materials. As a wedding photographer, it was a fantastic opportunity to explore one of the Midlands' most unusual wedding venues and photograph the historic surroundings, couples and wedding experiences the museum offers.
A Celebration at The Workers' Institute
One of the key locations was The Workers' Institute, where we staged a mock cake cutting.
Rather than creating something that felt overly posed, I wanted the photographs to capture the atmosphere of a real wedding celebration. Bringing everyone together around the couple helped create a lively party feel, resulting in images full of energy and interaction.
Wedding Confetti at Black Country Living Museum
Afterwards, we headed outside to photograph a confetti moment. These are always some of my favourite parts of a wedding day, and the museum's historic surroundings created a fantastic backdrop for photographs full of movement and celebration.
Wedding Portraits with the 1930s Alvis
One of the highlights of the shoot was the opportunity to photograph the couple alongside a beautiful 1930s Alvis.
The classic car fitted perfectly with the museum setting and offered a timeless backdrop for portraits. It's details like this that make Black Country Living Museum such a unique wedding venue and provide couples with photography opportunities that are difficult to find elsewhere.
Showcasing the Fish and Chip Wedding Experience
The museum also wanted to highlight their popular fish and chip wedding offering, so we created photographs around the fairground area and the iconic red telephone boxes.
These locations provided a fun and recognisable Black Country Living Museum backdrop while helping to showcase some of the experiences that make a wedding day at the venue so memorable. It's these little touches that make a wedding at the museum completely different from a more traditional venue.
Wedding Drinks Reception at The Bottle & Glass Inn
The day also included group photographs and a relaxed drinks reception outside The Bottle & Glass Inn.
This gave us the chance to show another side of the venue and demonstrate how different spaces across the museum can be used throughout a wedding day. The combination of historic surroundings and open outdoor spaces makes it easy to see why the venue is such a popular choice for couples looking for something a little different.
